Diary entry thirty-three I don't believe in the whole internal martial arts side of things. And I realise that as soon as people read that they'll semi-mutter the words 'ignorant bastard'. I hate that. I believe in muscle, will power and technique. And when I say will power, I don't mean chi/qi/ki. And yes I know that those words just mean 'life force' or something similar, and yes I do know that in fact I am alive. I just don't think that I can build it up and break bricks with it. I don't believe in internal martial arts, and I don't care if you do. I foolishly went onto some martial arts forums earlier on in the week, and there was some article about 'how to know you're an embarrassment to martial arts'. And one of the points to know that you're an embarrassment is to not do Chi Gung every day. And that 'Tai Chi is China's most feared martial art.' That's pretty damn vague. I NEVER do Chi gung. I do pushups, I go running. never Chi Gung. I never saw a tai chi guy and thought 'Let's get out of here.' If he was eight foot and build like a wall of muscle I would, but nope. But I don't care about what style OTHER PEOPLE do. The only thing that bugs me is when people criticise each others styles, how the hell does that help? I don't care. For one all styles are pretty much the same, except for a few little pointless adjustments. I don't think that people are idiots for doing Tae Kwon-Do, instead of Wing Chun, it doesn't matter. If you're good, you're good. If you think about what you're doing then the style shouldn't matter because you understand what's going on in reality. STOP CARING. and stop telling other people why their style is stupid, you arrogant bastards. They won't think that you're some fountain of knowledge, they'll just think that you're stupid. I love the internet.
